This is not just about “Corn on the Cob”…. there’s corn in “High Fructose Corn Syrup” which is in almost all processed foods and there’s corn in “Corn Flakes and other corn puff cereals”, “Cornbread mix”, “Corn Tortillas, Cheetos and Fritos, Corn Chips and other chips”, and much more! Corn is a staple used in cooking and processing of at least 75% of all processed foods! Please watch out for the GMO corn…. it’s a serious Gut Buster in a bad, sick way!!!!!
Pesticides in paradise: Hawaii’s spike in birth defects puts the focus on GM crops. With 17 times more pesticides sprayed per acre than on mainland crops, is it any surprise that birth defects are on the rise? Heart malformations occur more than 10 times the national rate and gastroschisis has increased 400% since the 1980’s from 3 cases a year to about a dozen now. In example of how to stop this type of thing: In the USA, back when flipper babies were being born so terribly deformed due to Thalidomide, the USA acknowledged the terrible risk to pregnant women and the unborn baby right away and banned it from use by pregnant women!!!
Thalidomide was first marketed in 1957 in West Germany under the trade-name Contergan. The German drug company Chemie Grünenthal developed and sold the drug. Primarily prescribed as a sedative or hypnotic, thalidomide also claimed to cure “anxiety, insomnia, gastritis, and tension”. Afterwards, it was used against nausea and to alleviate morning sickness in pregnant women.
Thalidomide became an over-the-counter drug in West Germany on October 1, 1957. Shortly after the drug was sold in West Germany, between 5,000 and 7,000 infants were born with phocomelia (malformation of the limbs). Only 40% of these children survived. Throughout the world, about 10,000 cases were reported of infants with phocomelia due to thalidomide; only 50% of the 10,000 survived. Those subjected to thalidomide while in the womb experienced limb deficiencies in a way that the long limbs either were not developed or presented themselves as stumps.
Other effects included deformed eyes and hearts, deformed alimentary and urinary tracts, blindness and deafness. The negative effects of thalidomide led to the development of more structured drug regulations and control over drug use and development. Today, thalidomide is sold by Celgene, mainly as a treatment of certain cancers (multiple myeloma) and of a complication of leprosy.
This should be treated the same way NOW! Regulate GMO technology and the chemicals it relies on. Ban these toxic chemicals which are clearly dangerous and should not be used on food crops or anywhere near people!!! This would stop these terrible deformities from occurring and growing to higher numbers!!!!! And this would also stop many other terrible diseases on the rise linked to the chemicals being sprayed on the GMO crops!!!!!!!!!!! STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!

Just in case you’re undecided, this great article by Dr. Alan Greene, a pediatrician, and Anna Lappé, co-founder of the Small Planet Institute and a nationally best-selling author, explains why organic is the best choice we can make for our families. The tide is turning. A poll out last week from the Organic Trade Association found a sharp decrease in parents who say price is a key factor limiting their organic purchases. “Parents in charge of the household budget recognize the benefits of organic,” said the trade group’s Laura Batcha. “And they’re willing to pay a little more to know that they are giving their families the highest-quality and most healthy products being offered in their local store.”
By definition, organics cannot be grown from GMO seeds. Organic agriculture does not use synthetic pesticides and our organic farmers work hard to avoid contamination from GMOs. Thank an organic farmer for doing what is best for our families and our environment. And plant a garden, grow your own. Let’s take back control of our food. A series of shocking new reports reveal that 45,000 acres of California crops are being irrigated with recycled fracking water, with some samples showing levels of petrochemicals higher than those found at oil spill sites.
Even more shocking, the practice of using recycled oil water on crops (which has become a lucrative side business for oil companies), has been taking place for 20 years but was seemingly undisclosed until recently.
Headquartered in San Ramon, California, Chevron is responsible for recycling the toxic fracking wastewater, which contains more than 200 chemicals including diesel, biocides and benzene, before selling it to farmers at a fraction of the cost of fresh water.
