Before we start, I’d like to share this interesting cost comparisons I found. You can buy 5 pounds of Organic white flour for about $5 (I know that seems costly, but if you cook from scratch it is not at all). I priced store bought pre-made tortillas and here’s the comparisons:

I calculated how many tortillas I could make using 5 pounds of organic flour and how much it would cost me. I can make about 144 tortillas with that 5 pound bag of Organic flour which cost approx. $5.00 (that’s approx. 3 tortillas for one penny))! This makes approx. 11 bags of tortillas (12 per bag) that at the store would cost $22 at $2 per bag of non-organic pre-made store bought tortillas! And a whopping $44 at $4 per bag Organic pre-made store bought tortillas!!! And my cost for 144 homemade Organic Flour tortillas that take me about an hour to make, is $5…

So, that’s why everyone thinks organic cost more. Because we’ve been preconditioned to cook from a box or buy premade store bought, instead of from scratch which is cheaper, easier and much much healthier!! When you see that non-organic pre-made store bought tortillas are costing you $2.20 Per Pound for that non-organic flour in those store bought tortillas, you realize quickly how much cheaper the organic flour is and you won’t have all the Doctor visits in the future and feel great, healthy and well like you are supposed to feel!

1. Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl and then add the wet ingredients, mix well. You may need a touch more or less flour, to make it less sticky.

2. Form approx. 24 to 36 balls depending on the size of tortilla you want to make. Then transfer to a well floured surface to roll out very flat and thin. As you roll one out, place the flattened dough into a warming pan that has a touch of oil, just enough to moisten the pan but no standing oil. I usually just rub crisco on the pan before warming it so it’s just right when I’m ready to place the first tortilla in it.

3. Each tortilla only needs to cook for about 1 1/2 to 2 mins on one side and then 30 seconds on the second side once flipped over.

4. Fill with your Green chili stew, here’s the recipe, or favorite beans, chicken, beef, etc… for awesome burritos and tacos!
