Banana Fritters



  • 8 bananas
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1cup cornflour (cornstarch)
  • 1teaspoons baking powder
  • 1teaspoon salt
  • 1cup milk
  • 1 egg white
  • 1cup caster sugar
  • oil (for deep frying)


  1. Peel bananas and cut in half.
  2. Sift flour, cornflour, baking powder and salt into bowl.
  3. Mix to smooth batter with the milk.
  4. Beat egg white until soft peaks form, fold lightly into batter.
  5. Drop banana pieces into batter, then deep fry in hot oil until golden brown.
  6. Remove and drain on absorbent paper.
  7. Toss in sugar.
  8. (frying time is approx) Serve hot with ice cream or whipped cream.
